Just a passing thought ...
I watched "War, Inc" last night, and the final denoument included a villain who was totally paralyzed and ran his evil empire through eye-gaze technology. I think I would have totally missed that part if I had not been exposed to the use of such technology in the classroom! However, it also made me question how the use of AT is presented in movies, as I am sure that least 2 Bond villains and the villain in "Cats and Dogs" used similar technology. Does our society, at some level, think of technology use as bad? Or is it just that villains tend to get themselves into trouble, and are the only ones who can afford the technology necessary to support themselves?
While this post is not directly linked to classroom discussions, I think it is important to reflect on such topics, as we, as a society, are heavily influenced by our media.
Something to think about :)
